Most modern mid-drive e-bikes can be tuned, but compatibility depends on the motor, generation and display setup.

Can it damage my bike/motor?
Incorrect setup can cause issues. We regularly see poor wiring which can lead to intermittent power loss/ signal issues..
We also recommend a service, and uprating the brakes.
Can the kit be removed?
Yes, all Pear Tune systems can be removed if required.
Will this void my warranty?
In most cases no - Pear Tune devices work with Bosch software.
What is legal?
E-bikes used on UK public roads must comply with EPAC regulations:
- Maximum assisted speed: 15.5mph (25km/h)
- Motor power: 250W continuous ratedcontinuous watts and peak watts (short-term, often 500W–900W+ for climbing)
- Pedal assist only (no throttle beyond walk assist)
Why a professional installation?
At SW E-Bikes:
- All bikes are checked for compatibility before installation - there are many manufacturer options that can get confusing e.g. smart system vs non smart system, rim magnet and intergenerational software changes that a service centre has access to.
- Work is carried out in-house following inspection
- An inspection confirms that your bike is safe BEFORE work is carried out.
